DISASSEMBLY

1. REMOVE REAR DRIVE SHAFT INBOARD JOINT SHAFT SNAP RING

(a) Using a screwdriver, remove the inboard joint shaft snap ring.

NOTICE:

Do not damage the spline of the inboard joint shaft.

2. REMOVE REAR DRIVE SHAFT INBOARD JOINT BOOT CLAMP

(a) Using a side cutter, cut the inboard joint boot clamp and remove it.

3. REMOVE REAR DRIVE SHAFT NO. 2 INBOARD JOINT BOOT CLAMP

(a) Using a side cutter, cut the No. 2 inboard joint boot clamp and remove it.

4. DISCONNECT REAR DRIVE SHAFT INBOARD JOINT BOOT

(a) Disconnect the inboard joint boot from the inboard joint shaft.

5. REMOVE REAR DRIVE SHAFT INBOARD JOINT SHAFT ASSEMBLY

(a) Place matchmarks on the inboard joint shaft and outboard joint shaft.

NOTICE:

Do not punch the marks.

(b) Using a screwdriver, remove the snap ring from the inboard joint shaft.

(d) Place matchmarks on the outboard joint shaft, inner race and cage.

NOTICE:

Do not punch the marks.

(e) Remove the 6 balls.

(f) Slide the cage to the outboard joint side.

(g) Using a snap ring expander, remove the snap ring.

(h) Using a brass bar and hammer, tap out the inner race.

NOTICE:

Be careful not to damage the inner race.

(i) Remove the cage.

6. REMOVE REAR DRIVE SHAFT INBOARD JOINT BOOT

(a) Remove the inboard joint boot from the outboard joint shaft.

7. REMOVE REAR DRIVE SHAFT OUTBOARD JOINT BOOT CLAMP

(a) Using a side cutter, cut the outboard joint boot clamp and remove it.

8. REMOVE REAR DRIVE SHAFT NO. 2 OUTBOARD JOINT BOOT CLAMP

(a) Using a side cutter, cut the No. 2 outboard joint boot clamp and remove it.

9. REMOVE REAR DRIVE SHAFT OUTBOARD JOINT BOOT

(a) Remove the outboard joint boot from the outboard joint shaft.

10. REMOVE REAR DRIVE SHAFT DUST COVER

(a) Using SST and a press, press out the dust cover from the inboard joint shaft.

SST: 09950-00020

NOTICE:

Do not drop the inboard joint shaft.

11. REMOVE REAR DRIVE SHAFT DUST SEAL

(a) Using SST and a press, press out the dust seal from the outboard joint shaft assembly.

SST: 09950-00020

NOTICE:

Do not drop the outboard joint shaft assembly.
